Woodlands County is a thriving area located approximately 170 kilometres northwest of Edmonton. The primary industries within the region include forestry, oil and gas, and agriculture. Woodlands County encompasses a beautiful, natural landscape that is extremely appealing for the outdoor enthusiast. It is growing rapidly, and has a current population of over 4,100 people.

 Fort Assiniboine School meeting  Posted Nov. 5, 2009     

Woodlands County with the Fort Assiniboine School Council are jointly hosting a meeting Friday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. in the gymnasium of the school to discuss the low enrollment numbers at the school. For more information click HERE

 OPEN HOUSE - Highway 43 Service Road Study

An open house meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, NOv. 25 from 4-8 p.m. in the council chambers at the Woodlands County municipal office in Whitecourt. The open house is being held to give residents the opportunity to learn about the Highway 43 Service Road Study, which proposes changes to intersections along Highway 43 between Whitecourt and Highway 751.  Nominations open for recognition awards

Woodlands County's Community Services Department is now accepting applications for community recognition awards for four different categories. Any individuals, organizations or agencies that have contributed outstanding volunteer leadership or service to improve the quality of life for Woodlands County residents are eligible to be nominated. The four categories include: business, civic, public service and the Golden Heart award. The award recipients will be announced at the annual Agriculture Service Board supper and Volunteer Recognition Night on March 5.  Photography contest winners!

The Economic Development Committee for Woodlands County has selected its photography contest winners. The top five photographs have become post cards to promote the County. Post cards are available at the County office in Fort Assiniboine and Whitecourt, as well as the Tourist Information Centre in Whitecourt and the Fort Assiniboine Museum. To see the winning photographs click

 Transfer Site ID Card Program now in effect

Woodlands County has launched its new Transfer Site ID Card Program for the Anselmo, Goose Lake and Doris transfer sites. Any county residents using these sites are now required to produce their ID card before unloading waste or recyclables at any of those three sites.  [read more]
